Yihong Wan, PhD

Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas

Dr. Wan is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Biophysics and Genetics at the University of Colorado Health Science Center, Denver. Upon graduation, she conducted postdoctoral research with Dr. Ron Evans at the Salk Institute, La Jolla, California. The research in Dr. Wan’s laboratory focuses on the regulation of development, metabolism and cancer using bone and mammary gland as model systems, with the goal of a better prevention and treatment of diseases such as osteoporosis and cancer bone metastasis. Dr. Wan is a recipient of several prestigious awards including the Virginia Murchison Linthicum Scholar Award in Medical Research, the Individual Investigator Award from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, the Becton Dickinson Biosciences Research Award, the John Haddad Young Investigator Award from the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, the Basil O’Connor Scholar Award from March of Dimes Foundation, and the Eugenia Resemberg Award from the Endocrine Society.
